Introduction
This course is recommended for the unemployed medical coder who has experience but no certification background. It is also our top choice for those who have experience and need to network in the medical coding community. The CPC is the most recognized certification among the top three: CPC, RMC & CCS-P. The Institute believes the CPC recognition will be of great help to experienced coders looking for the next job or those wishing to increase the networking opportunities with other coders.
Lesson Preparation
The instructional methods for this medical coding class include reading assignments, practice exercises, discussion board assignments, review quizzes, and final review test.
Final Exam & Grading
The CPC certification test is a seated exam. It is NOT online. At the completion of the program you will register at an authorized AAPC testing center to take the certification examination. The exam is open book and you are allowed to use CPT, ICD 9 and HCPCS. Once you start your test you have a maximum of five hours and forty minutes to complete the 150 multiple choice examination. Understand, whereas you have five hours and forty minutes to complete the test, there is no allotted time for bathroom breaks or lunch so plan accordingly. A minimum score of 70% is require to pass the exam.
