Introduction
We recommend this course to new medical coders and those who are currently employed in the health care field. It is also a good fit for students who need to learn medical anatomy and terminology before moving on to certification. We also recommend this course to those looking for a second certification, unless you are a medical business consultant for which we recommend the CCS-P.

The RMC certification is the newest coding certification in the mix. The testing model takes a complete departure from the traditional paper base test. The certification is a government licensed program with an online certification test. Many feel this more appropriately addresses the medical coding situation... no one, today, is going to code medical claims with paper books exclusively. Those applying to take the RMC exam are allowed to use the full resources of the Internet to arrive at answers on the certification exam.

Lesson Preparation
If you are the independent learner who needs only the curriculum, assignments, and the “test-by” date, you may prefer to move through the modules as quickly as possible to test within a few weeks or a couple of months. If you are the type of student who desires a strict educational path, you may opt to follow the schedule precisely, week-by-week, to ensure completion of the program within the full given six month period. If, like most, you fall somewhere in between, you will move through the materials at the most comfortable pace to suit you and your time schedule and lifestyle.

Final Exam & Grading
The RMC final examination will be activated by the student’s instructor after satisfactory completion of all course work. The RMC certification test is online. The test is 150 questions and once started the student has 24 hours to complete the test. Each student is given two attempts to pass the certification exam.

Medical Coding Certification Requirements
1. Though only a high school diploma or equivalent is required, the ARHCP recommends having an associate’s degree.
2. Pay tuition fee at the time of application submission.
3. All exams will be reported with exact scores and areas of study (75% or less).
