2019 Moderate Sedation Updates Webinar

Tuesday January 22nd, 1pm EST

Webinar Topics

2017 was the addition of separate Moderate Conscious Sedation codes. The “symbol” that reflected that this service was inclusive to over 2000 codes in the CPT Book, was eliminated to allow for separate billing for sedation when it was appropriately documented by the physician. We will address several specialties in the proper documentation and charge capture, as well as answer the place of service questions on reimbursement issues.

Learning Objectives:

  • What is Moderate Sedation?
  • What medications fall under the conscious sedation definition?
  • Can we bill for sedation if the nurse giving the sedation is hospital employed?
  • Can we bill for sedation in the office setting?
  • What specific language are we needing to capture sedation?
  • Is this a time-based code?

Session Highlights:

  • Specific Regulations
  • MLM Articles and the link between CPT and Medicare when it applies to reimbursement.
  • Examples of commercial plan policies on moderate sedation services.
  • We will give examples of actual procedure reports so that the language is clear to attendees.

The training format is an online webinar conducted through GoToTraining. CEU certificates will be awarded upon completion of a short online quiz.

  • Estimated Length: 1.5 Hours
  • Worth: 3 CEUs
